CMAA MEMBER
HOJ provides overhead crane service across Utah and Idaho, including 24/7 emergency repair, OSHA and ASME compliance inspections, load testing, planned maintenance, and new crane installation.
CICB certified technicians dispatch same day from Salt Lake City, Boise, and Idaho Falls, and crews reach Wyoming, Montana, Nevada, and Arizona within 24 to 48 hours. Any brand, any crane, no matter who installed it.
Types of Cranes We Service
We do not service truck cranes or tower cranes. If your crane runs on a runway or stands on your floor, we work on it.
Our response times per Area
HOJ supplied most of the cranes running in Utah, and we service the rest too.
Our technicians work on every brand, no matter who built or installed it.
If your crane or hoist is obsolete, we source parts, fit an upgrade kit, or put you with one of our crane engineers to plan a retrofit that fits your budget.
Getting a crane serviced should not be complicated. Here is the whole process.

OSHA 1910.179 requires two inspection classes for cranes in regular service: frequent inspections at daily to monthly intervals, and periodic inspections at 1 to 12 month intervals, with the exact interval based on the crane's activity, severity of service, and environment. HOJ schedules monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual inspections, and can schedule same day by phone.
Frequent inspections are visual and functional checks of high-wear items like hooks, ropes, and operating mechanisms. Periodic inspections are comprehensive examinations of the entire crane, covering structural members, bolts, sheaves, drums, and brake wear. A heavily used crane in a harsh environment needs periodic inspections more often than once a year.
Daily pre-shift checks can be performed by your trained crane operator. Documented periodic inspections should be performed by a qualified crane inspector. HOJ inspections are performed by CICB certified inspectors and cover every brand of crane, including equipment we did not sell or install.
Before initial use, all new or altered cranes require a rated load test, with test loads not exceeding 125% of rated capacity, and the results documented and kept on file. HOJ performs on-site load testing with our own certified test weights, including cranes over 100 tons.
It depends on the hoist's age, duty cycle, and parts availability. When repair costs approach the price of a new unit, replacement usually wins. HOJ technicians give you an honest assessment either way, and as the region's exclusive R&M dealer we quote both paths so you can compare.
Cost depends on the crane type, capacity, the fault, and parts required, so there is no flat rate. HOJ quotes inspections and planned maintenance over the phone, and repair quotes arrive in writing within 24 to 48 hours. Techs run boom trucks, so most jobs include the lift at no extra charge.
Certified inspectors, factory authorization from major crane brands, a deep parts inventory, and real emergency response times. HOJ carries CICB certifications, factory-authorized warranty service for R&M, CM, ACCO, and Kone, in-house fabrication, and 24/7 dispatch across Utah and Idaho.
You get a full written report identifying every deficiency and what it takes to reach compliance. If you issue a PO on the spot, our technician can often make the repair the same visit. Non-compliant equipment is flagged, and we work with you until it passes.
Usually, yes. We stock common wear parts for CM, R&M, and Kone, and source or fabricate what we don't stock, including custom steel parts from our in-house certified welders. If a hoist is fully obsolete, a crane engineer can build you a retrofit plan.
Annual contracts lock your rates for the full year, and you can cancel anytime with no fee. We proactively schedule your service dates around your inspection deadlines, so compliance never sneaks up on you. Billing stays per visit.
