On-site proof load testing for overhead cranes and hoists across Utah and Idaho, with our own test weights and a documented report.

We own the test weights, the trucks, and the trailers that haul them. No third-party weight rental, no waiting on someone else's schedule. Testing happens at your facility, on your crane, on your timeline.
We test up to 125 percent of rated capacity. Most customers run 100 to 105 percent, and some prefer 95 percent to avoid pushing a full overload on older equipment.
You choose the level with us, and the crane lifts, holds, and travels in multiple directions under load before it passes.
Above 100 tons. High-capacity cranes are within range.
Every overhead crane load test ends with a detailed written report: the load applied, the lifts and holds performed, the directional travel completed, and confirmation the crane passed.
It goes in your equipment file with us and your compliance records with you.
New installations, altered cranes, and repairs to load-bearing components all call for a proof load test before the crane returns to service.
Many operations also test on a set schedule alongside their inspection program.
One call today, and your cranes are documented, compliant, and off your worry list.
Call or send the form. Testing is scheduled same-day, on the phone.
Weights arrive on our trucks, and the test runs at your facility.
The crane passes, the report is in your hands, and it's back to work.
Load testing is a separate service from inspection, but we quote both for the same trip.
One visit covers the CICB-certified inspection and the crane load test, one report set covers your compliance file.
Sixty years of crane work backs every Boise service call.
HOJ engineers, fabricates, sells, and services cranes across Utah and Idaho, and the Boise branch puts that full operation within same-day reach of the Treasure Valley.
A proof load test loads the crane beyond its rated capacity, typically 100 to 125 percent, and runs it through lifts, holds, and travel to prove the structure and hoist perform under load. It's the standard way to verify a crane before it returns to service.
We document the deficiency in your report and quote the repair path. Give us a PO on-site and correction work can be scheduled immediately, with common wear parts like wire ropes stocked or sourced same-day through local vendors.
Capacity and site drive the price, since heavier cranes need more weight hauled in. We quote by phone, and pairing the test with an inspection on the same trip keeps the combined cost down.
Yes. Hoists, bridge, gantry, and jib cranes all get tested with the same weights and documented in the same report format, on any brand, whether we installed the equipment or not.
