An automated trailer unloading system works one of two ways depending on how freight is loaded. For floor-loaded trailers, where cartons are stacked loose, a robotic arm on a mobile base uses cameras and sensors to detect each box, grip it from the top or side, and place it on a flexible conveyor that feeds the warehouse. The robot decides each grasp in real time, with no pre-programmed box list. For palletized freight, an autonomous mobile robot drives into the trailer, lifts the pallets, and carries them to staging in a single trip. Both approaches keep workers out of the trailer entirely.
